The Pacifier

My husband and I are currently in the stage of doing everything possible to prevent the pacifier from falling from the mouth of our 3-month-old daughter. We do this because it is so stressful and uncomfortable for everyone when she is upset. How does this apply to what we may continue to do as adults? What do we bend over backwards to prevent when it may be easier to just experience the discomfort?
