As adults, we often have to do things that we really don’t want to do. Attending events where I have to schmooze has aways been difficult for me. Of course there are others such as visiting the dentist, writing, public speaking, and being around some family members… What I have found helpful to get through these experiences is picking something comforting in the moment. Thank goodness there are a variety of coping skills! Sometimes I find saying the Our Father (Yes, I was raised Catholic) comforts me in an uncomfortable situation but for another I may meditate.
