While working with children through Child-Centered Play Therapy, I have witnessed remarkable healing. The therapy is based on trusting the child to direct their own relief. More specifically, if you provide a trusting, supportive, and present relationship with the child, they will show you what they need and play out what is healing for them in the moment.
What if we did that for our adult relationships? What if we did that for ourselves? What would it look like if we got out of the way and just remained present while they worked out what is healing for them in the moment? What if we got out of our own way and listened to what we truly needed to heal?
