Relationships and parenting are not easy. Hal Runkel from ScreamFree Parenting says, “Kids want parents to be able to keep their cool no matter what, to be calm and not give in to their anxiety of the moment.” Hal then goes on to describe how anxiety presents as shutting down, yelling, or giving in.
I think this can also be applied to relationships. It’s helpful to have the tools to pause and calm yourself when you are feeling reactive. What could you do to try to pause and calm yourself this week before you shut down, yell, or give in?
